I love Guerneville. I lived there for 3 months in 2009 and it was a good experience. Old and young hippies, redwoods, proximity to the Coast, Russian River, and Westside Road wine routes. And friendly people. However...the restaurant scene...it has not been historically top-notch, and recently, it has started to boom. Michelin starred Applewood, artisan cocktails at Agriculture, new bakeries/deli/wine bars on the main drag through town are all promising. I'm going to leave my judgements for a more thorough examination, but so far...well...I'm spoiled and have a certain level of expectation as a hospitality professional. And a number of service points were missed on a recent excursion. Everywhere. Among other things. In the coming weeks, I'll post a more thorough report, and I hope it will be better than my early impressions...stay tuned....
